What should bokashi compost smell like?



Fermenting bokashi should smell similar to fermented pickles (think sauerkraut or kimchi) with possibly yeasty, alcoholic undertones (think beer). It should NOT smell rotten or foul 

Bokashi composting is marketed as being odor-free (and it is as long as the container is closed), but when you open up your fermentation vessel you may find the odor quite strong.
