What is the PH of Bokashi?

Fermented bokashi compost and its leachate "tea" are acidic. How acidic depends on several factors, but the PH of bokashi generally ranges from 3-4.

Because bokashi is quite acidic until it assimilates with the soil, bury fermented scraps at least a foot away from plants.

As the scraps break down, the acidity rapidly dissipates as the material assimilates with the soil. Bokashi has only a temporary effect on soil acidity.

When using the "tea" as a soil drench, dilute the bokashi leachate before adding it to the soil around plants (and rotate which plants get the soil drench). Be cautious about using bokashi leachate as a soil drench for plants that dislike acidic soil conditions, as the temporary change in soil PH can stress them.
