Unlike conventional composting, bokashi composting can break down almost all of your kitchen waste. Here's what can go into your bokashi bucket:
- Fruit and vegetable peelings, cores, and leftovers (cooked or raw).
- Meat, including small bones.
- Eggs (cooked).
- Dairy, including cheese and yogurt.
- Grain products including bread, pasta, oatmeal, etc.
- Biodegradeable paper products like paper plates and coffee filters (in moderation).
- Tea leaves (including bags) and coffee grounds.
- Leftover casseroles, soups, etc. (in moderation).
- Anything moldy, purifying, or already "off."
- Straight oils (cheese, fried potatoes, etc. are OK).
- Straight liquids (soups, applesauce, etc. are OK).
